No Covers @ The Friary (9pm, free)
The biggest little bar in Cork city continues supporting new music, with Brother Rabbit, Michele Amico and Séamus MacAilín.

FRIDAY JULY 28TH:

JFDR @ Connolly’s of Leap (8pm, €12)
The latest project from Iceland’s Jófríður Ákadóttir (Samaris, Pascal Pinon, Gangly), is a blend of cyclical guitar parts, soft minimal soundscapes, and poetic wonderings.

Trigger @ Cyprus Avenue (9pm, free)
Cork rapper launches second album with a stellar supporting cast, including Costello & GI, Myles Gaffney, Red The Future & Kreo Ghost (Flowstate Movement), and Dylan B.

SATURDAY JULY 29TH:

Mallow Arts Festival @ Mallow (all day, free)
Today’s highlights: Stevie G at Springfort Hall Café (12pm); The Quiet Club, Saint Caoilian, Outsider Y.P., and The Electronic Folk at St. James’ Church (12pm); Ealadha at Albert Lynch’s (8pm); The Light Runners at Ocana’s (12pm).

All Tvvins @ Cyprus Avenue (7pm, €5)
Ex-Adebisi Shank/Cast of Cheers lads’ debut Cork headliner takes place as a launch party for Indiependence festival’s Live Your Music initiative. Support from Bad Bones.

Death the Leveller @ Fred Zeppelin’s (8.30pm, €5/€7 after 10pm)
A helping of heft upstairs in Fredz courtesy of Dublin doom-metallers featuring ex-members of Mael Mordha and Cursed Earth. Astral doomlords Soothsayer and hardcore/thrash outfit Bisect in support.

UnderCurrent @ The Poor Relation (9pm, €5)
Bringing harder sounds to the first annual Cork Reggae & Ska Festival, Undercurrent’s lineout of dubby/bassy goings-on include Jonezy, Riddim Skribbler and Badmandeego.

Mallow Arts Festival @ Mallow (all day, free)
Today’s highlights: Ringo: Music Bingo at Maureen’s (9pm); Bate to Debt (feat. Robbie Barron of The Shaker Hymn) at Keppler’s (9pm).

Sunday Times’ 8th Birthday @ The Bowery (3pm, free)
Celebrating their eighth anniversary with a big blowout upstairs in the Bowery, with a double-header of The Smoke Clears producer John Daly and legendary DJ Dónal Dineen.

Wiggle @ The Poor Relation (7pm, free)
A live melting pot of dub, electronica and live performance described by the Leeside reggae veterans themselves as ‘live jamtronica’.
