WEDNESDAY MARCH 7TH:

CIT Battle of the Bands Heat 1 @ Cyprus Avenue (8pm, €3)
With Finbarr’s campus winding up its annual band-battles, it’s CIT’s turn to present the best of young Cork music. Tonight: Skies Behind, The Slut Club and Tree House Plan.

BOB LOG III @ DeBarra’s of Clonakilty (9pm, €6)
Blues/garage freakbot is booted up for the first of two demonstrations in Cork this week.

THURSDAY MARCH 8TH:

Int’l Women’s Weekender @ The Roundy (12pm, suggested donation €5)
The first day of PLUGD Records/The Roundy’s four-day weekender for International Women’s Day. 12pm – 5pm : Artists’ Market & DJs. 8pm – close : performances by HEX with Inma Pavon, Saint Caoilian, Linda Cullen and Noelle O’Regan.

Int’l Womens Day w/GirlCrew @ Cyprus Avenue (9pm, €8)
Cyprus Avenue plays host to some of Cork’s busiest musicwomen for their IWD gig – singer-songwriters Míde Houlihan, Sarah-Beth and Sara Ryan are joined by producer/DJ Gadget and the Cloud.

The Clockworks @ Fred Zeppelin’s (9pm, €4)
Galwegian post-punks head to the red room upstairs in Fredz for a Cork date, rescheduled after last week’s weather event.

BOB LOG III @ Crane Lane Theatre (11.30pm, free)
Helmeted, metallic future-blues techno-droid is given the second of two public demonstrations at the Crane Lane.

FRIDAY MARCH 9TH:

Int’l Women’s Weekender @ The Roundy (12pm, suggested donation €5)
The second day of PLUGD Records/The Roundy’s four-day weekender for International Women’s Day. 12pm – 5pm – Artist’s Market & DJs. 8.30pm – close : performances by Dowry, Carol-Ann, Elaine Malone and Lowlek.

Kojaque @ The Poor Relation (7.30pm, €12)
One of Ireland’s most engaging and eloquent wordsmiths hits Cork as part of his ‘Deli Daydreams’ tour. Support from Luka Palm and Cork-resident Soft Boy affiliates JarJarJr. and Gaptoof (fka Nxstalgic_).

Skies Behind @ Fred Zeppelin’s (8pm, €5)
Cork-based pop-punk five-piece take another lash at a Fredz gig after having to cancel last week’s date owing to Storm Emma. Support from Enemy Lines and Troy Vallely.

Brian Deady @ Connolly’s of Leap (8.30pm, €17)
Corkonian soul superstar takes a trip under the hammers for an intimate show at Connolly’s.

Stephanie Rainey @ DeBarras’ of Clonakilty (9pm, €12)
Cork-based singer-songwriter continues a schedule of hard gigging with an excursion to Clonakilty.

Wiggle & BassApes @ Cyprus Avenue (10pm, €10)
West Cork electro-dub veterans continue their run of live fusion, joined by friends and guests for a collective DJ set under the BassApes marquee.

SATURDAY MARCH 10TH:

Fempower Intervarsity Feminist Festival @ UCC Brookfield Campus (9am, free)
An all-day series of panels, discussions and performances marking the importance of women to Irish society for the week that’s in it. Musical heads appearing include Lady Grew and members of GASH Collective, plus investigative journalist Ellen Coyne, Andrea Horan of the Hunreal Issues, and more. Register at the link.

Leeside metallers return home after a jaunt up the country. Support from Dubliners Scathed and post-metal five-piece God Alone.

Xero & Mistrix @ Cyprus Avenue (11pm, €7)
House producer/impresario Xero returns to Cyprus Avenue, joined by rising international quantity Mistrix and local musos Aaron Kennedy and Kyle Meehan.

SUNDAY MARCH 11TH:

The last day of PLUGD Records/The Roundy’s four-day weekender for International Women’s Day. 12pm – 5pm: Artists’ Market. 7pm – close: Come Out And Play Cabaret, curated by performance poet Tina Pisco.

Toucan @ Cyprus Avenue (8pm, €10)
Waterford-based funk-pop duo (see what they did there?) head upstairs on Caroline Street for their Cork debut, while on their first Irish tour.

David Kitt @ DeBarra’s of Clonakilty (8.30pm, €15)
Returning to his own moniker after launching the first New Jackson album last year, David Kitt continues the launche of new album ‘Yous’ with a Clonakilty gig.

Ariel Posen @ Coughlan’s (9pm, €12)
Singer/songwriter, guitarist and member of Juno-winners The Bros. Landreth, Ariel Posen heads to Douglas Street for a solo show as part of an Irish excursion.
