Flipping Gil Scott-Heron’s ‘New York Is Killing Me’, Angel Haze’s ‘New York’ is a promising start for the 20 year-old who is a bit of a Youtube personality. Taken from her Reservation LP out this month on True Panther/Noizy Cricket!, the song, produced by The 83rd, lays Haze’s skills on the track for all to hear, switching up to an impressive rapidfire flow so you know she means business. The “I run New York” hook is wishful thinking at this point but as an opening gambit, Haze is making the right moves.
