Benji B’s radio show, as I often enthuse around these parts, is a regular show I try to delve into every week – taking in hip-hop, dance, electronic, house, grime and general underground club tracks.
Most weeks he has a guest of some kind whether in the studio or in the mix. This week’s is Thom Yorke of Radiohead who joins Benji and plays some favourite tracks as a co-presenter over three hours. The pair play back to back for the entire duration and play a lot of tunes including music from Burial, Girl Band, Liquid Liquid, James Blake, Vince Staples, Abul Mogard and Dilla in there.
Of Girl Band’s ‘Paul’, Yorke said it was his and his son’s favourite music (about 35 minutes in). They are from Dublin Thom not Belfast.
The shows happen on Saturday November 7th and Sunday November 7th after the main event. Entrance is valid to those with weekend or day tickets or a wristband. If you’re not going, tickets can be bought from TM. There is some great stuff here:

Last week, my favourite radio DJ Benji B’s had a Soundtrack Special where he indulged us in the records in his soundtrack crate including music from composers like Ennio Morricone (timely as he’s playing here this weekend), Cliff Martinez, John Barry, Bernard Herrmann, Vangelis, Giorgio Moroder, Chromatics, Angelo Badalamenti, Jon Brion and more. Films included Taxi Driver, Akira, Wildstyle, Paris, Texas, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Rocky, Drive, Bladerunner, The Taking of Pelham 123 and From Russia With Love. It was mega.
You can listen to the whole show here til Thursday but in case you don’t get to listen til after, you can listen to a Spotify playlist below of all his selections. One track I’d add in there is ‘Nique La Police’ from the La Haine soundtrack. What are your favourite unknown soundtrack tracks?
Despite Benji B’s BBC show being pretty much my favourite radio show, I hadn’t got around to watching/hearing this yet. Benji on the decks with a 16-piece string ensemble in Maida Vale for 52 minutes.

A radio rip of a new James Blake tune as played on Benji B. The track ( first version) is more in the vein of Blake’s early electronic EPs and will be released on a compilation entitled 116 & rising on Hessle Audio. Full details on the comp which was put together by Ben UFO, Pangaea and Pearson Sound over on FACT.
Bullion turns in a 33-minute mix for Benji B featuring all original tracks both unreleased and from his 1-side only etched 12″ You Drive Me To Plastic on Young Turks which gets a wider release in April. Tracklisting below.
While Benji B took a break from his show this week, Brainfeeder label artists stepped in and delivered a collection of live and DJ sets for the duration of the show. We get sets from Flying Lotus (two in fact – DJ & live band), Teebs, Samiyam, Tokimonsta, Austin Peralta and Matthew David. The show was recorded in Fly Lo’s house.
