‘All You’re Waiting For’, the electro pop second track on Classixx’sHanging Gardens album gets a nautical video courtesy of Tim K with vocalist Nancy Whang hanging on her yacht waited on hand and foot.
I love how nerdy this guy is. In the video, he can’t handle one glass of Absinthe and goes a bit loo-laa. I also love the Classixx remix of this tune. Look out beloooow. Mayer Hawthorne plays Ireland in a few weeks. Full details below.

Remember those times when you picked up a music magazine or a weekly music paper and read a playlist of what that publication’s writers were playing in the office that week? Here is my nod to that staple. No great fanfare, just ten of the best song around right now I’ve been playing lots of.
This week: Australia’s The Middle East take flight, Classixx remixes Mayer Hawthorne, a track from a Michael Jackson tribute compilation, a tune from the best band I’ve seen this week (so far), another solid Aeroplane remix, another Fever Ray rework and a Swedish guy called Ramsey.
Last week I asked my Twitter followers for their submission to a newTwitter mixtape or Twixtape for short:
What’s your perfect summer song for 2009?
There was about 50 responses or so and I had a great time collating as many tracks as I could for the mixtape below. There’s some crackers and belters right here: That Classixx Phoenix remix, the Alice in Wonderland electronic song, Atmosphere’s summery jam, the stupendous ‘So Far to Go’ from J Dilla, the clattering boogie funk of Dam Funk, an excellent tune from Wave Machines, an acoustic Yeah Yeah Yeahs a classic from Martha Reeves and the Vandellas and up-to-date indie hits from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Girls.
If I didn’t include your song, it’s because time or legalities didn’t allow it. Enjoy the mixtape. Hopefully, some of these songs will soundtrack your summer.. Listen to the mixtape >>
It’s a stonking indie-pop number which is a prime example to the gazillion indie bands out there how you can learn from bands like Phoenix (aside – how awesome of a tune is ‘1901’? Very is the answer.) and craft a decent tune alongside a decent producer – in this case Lexx. It’s even got an almost Bewitched-type “Go! Go! Go!” breakdown. What’s not to like?
As for the Kitsune comp – there are tracks from We Have Band, That killer Lisztomania remix from Classixx (FYI – The term “Lisztomania” was coined by the German romantic literary figure Heinrich Heine to describe the massive public response to Franz Liszt’s virtuosic piano performances, thanks Wikipedia), The Golden Filter, La Roux, Autokratz, James Yuill and others but it’s mostly forgettable. Here’s a minimix for a taster. It’s out now in advance on eMusic.
