The video for the new HamsandwicH track ‘Bodies’ is a forewarning to anyone who thinks they should get a robotic companion for their home. At least don’t get one that has only one function. The video for the song starring Andréa Farrell and Chris Newman Directed and filmed by Crooked Gentlemen (Jeff Doyle and Shaun Ryan) shows what can happen when a robot gives you a bee in your bonnet.
HamsandwicH will release their first single in two years tomorrow, their first since their third album Stories From The Surface.
The Meath band’s single ‘Bodies’ has been receiving lots of Irish radio play and is the sound of a band with a renewed energy – mining synth-pop, playful percussion and the band’s classic pop chops.
The song was produced and recorded by Karl Odlum. A new album is forthcoming in 2018.

HamsandwicH’s Stories From The Surface album has cemented the Kells band as one of Ireland’s most loved since its release last April. Regular radio play nationwide for its three singles ‘Fandango’, ‘Illuminate’ and ‘Apollo’ and a Choice Music Prize nomination was also forthcoming.
For this latest video for ‘Satellite’, the ‘Ants’ director Marc Corrigan has made an animation that suits the band’s starry-eyed band melodics.
The video coincides with the band’s Irish tour between now and June kicking off this weekend in Sligo and going to Galway, Belfast, Limerick, Dublin, Dundalk and Cork.
HamsandwicH’s new album Stories From The Surface is to be released on April 17th next month on The Route 109A Recording Company
You’ve likely heard three singles from it so far – the newest track ‘Fandango’, ‘Illuminate’ and ‘Apollo’.
The tracklist is below and above is the specially-commissioned artwork for the record by artist Alan Clarke and the design was by Steve Averill known for his work on covers by U2, The Script, Depeche Mode and Elvis Costello.
HamsandwicH had a pretty good year in 2014. They sold out the Olympia, supported Arcade Fire in Marlay Park and released two of their best songs yet in ‘Illuminate’ and ‘Apollo’.
Those two songs will feature on the band’s new third album Stories From The Surface which will be released on April 17th on The Route 109A Recording Company, five years after their second album White Fox.
It was recorded once again with Karl Odlum in Westland Studios, Windmill Lane Studios, and Bow Lane Studios. It was mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound in New York (who recently mastered The War On Drugs, Future Islands and St. Vincent) while Danny Kalb mixed the album (Beck, Ben Harper, Karen O).
The band say the album sounds bigger, different but still distinctly them. “The biggest change about this new album is that we’re majorly fussy about it,” Podge says. “Ultimately, we didn’t want to write anything contrived.”
