Unknown Mortal Orchestra have a new album on the way called Multi-Love in May and you know what that means. Gigs. Specifically an Irish one.

The band are playing Whelan’s on Saturday September 26th. Tickets are €16.50 on sale Friday at 9am from Ticketmaster but you can win tickets if you leave a comment below before 6pm tomorrow.

The inaugural Ava Festival (Audio Visual Arts) in Belfast was already looking like a fine gathering of electronic music on Saturday May 30th with Bicep, Ejeca, Optimo, Phil Kieran, Space Dimension Controller and more lined up.

Today, they’ve just added Boiler Room for their first Irish filming/showcase, at the outdoor stage at t13 with Bicep, Space Dimension Controller, John Daly (live), Timmy Stewart and Schmutz.

The Go! Team have just been announced for a gig on Saturday June 20th at Whelan’s (same weekend as Body & Soul). Tickets are €22 ex-fee on sale Thursda March 26th at 10am through Ticketmaster.ie & usual outlets nationwide.

HamsandwicH’s new album Stories From The Surface is to be released on April 17th next month on The Route 109A Recording Company

You’ve likely heard three singles from it so far – the newest track ‘Fandango’, ‘Illuminate’ and ‘Apollo’.

The tracklist is below and above is the specially-commissioned artwork for the record by artist Alan Clarke and the design was by Steve Averill known for his work on covers by U2, The Script, Depeche Mode and Elvis Costello.

You wouldn’t have thought Mogwai were a particularly sentimental bunch but they’ve announced that they are playing a couple of Irish shows this Summer to celebrate 20 years as a band.

The dates are:

Wed 17 June – Cork Opera House, Cork
Thurs 18 June – Olympia, Dublin

Both shows are feature support from RM Hubbard and are on sale 9am Friday 27 March.

Cork Opera House: €27.50 (standing) / €30.00 (seated) including booking fee

Olympia Theatre: €28.00 / €31.00 / €34.00 including booking fee

The band are also playing a hometown Glasgow shows with Loop, Prolapse, Pye Corner Audio, The Vaselines, Forest Swords and Sacred Paws at Barrowlands as well as two shows in The Roundhouse in London that month.

Barn Dance Festival, now BD Festival happens on Good Friday one-day festival in Glendalough House, Co. Wicklow on April 3rd.

Today, they added Jape, The Academic, Hare Squead (who rocked our Paddy’s Day Unlocked event), Discopunks, Brian Deady, Together Disco’s Confession Session, Heroes In Hiding, Mode 1 + Lee Kelly, Dave O’Sullivan, Pusher, Lerosa, Mulljoy, Kaily, Room 19, All City DJs, This Greedy Pig, Southpaw, Shake, The Raid, The Malibu Club and Shane Linehan.

That adds to the existing lineup:

Transport

As for getting there: A bus service will run from Custom House Quay from 3pm and every 30 minutes thereafter with tickets priced from €10 on the website, return bus tickets must be purchased in advance or on entry. Limited parking will be available along with a taxi drop off point.

Iceland Airwaves today, in their own unique style announced the latest artists to play the festival in Reykjavík from November 4th – 8th.

They are:

Björk, John Grant With The Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Father John Misty, Hundred Waters, La Priest, Låpsley, The Pop Group, Sóley, Bubbi og Dimma
Agent Fresco, Mammút, Sea Change, Vök, Emmsjé Gauti, Ho99o9, Ylja, AmabAdama, Muck, Hekla.

The Björk and John Grant show tickets will be give out on a first-come-first-served basis. A second Bjork show will take place on Tuesday November 3rd at Eldborg in Harpa.
