The Louth Contemporary Music Society’s Eamonn Quinn awards prestigious €20,000 Belmont Prize

Dundalk native Eamonn Quinn has just been announced the winner of the prestigious Belmont Prize.

The prize, awarded biennially by German entity Forberg, Stiftung and Schneider seeks to honour those who show “innovation, daring, and courage” in the field of contemporary music. The prize is worth €20,000.

Quinn is the co-founder and artistic director for the Louth Contemporary Music Society (LCMS). The group have recently risen to prominence following the sampling of one of their songs by The XX and Mike Posner last year.

The Louth Contemporary Music Society will be presenting a performance of their latest recording Four Thousand Holes by pianist Taga Kigawa and percussionist Russel Greenberg in St. Peter’s Church, Drogheda on May 5^th as part of the Drogheda Arts Festival.
