All the way from Westport, Connecticut, Father LongLegs is the enigmatic work of an individual who has been producing music videos for the likes of Solar Bears, Tobacco, fol Chen and Black Moth Super Rainbow. What I hadn’t realised is that the dude makes some pretty exciting boom bap electronica himself. Thankfully, this was rectified with the release of the Intergalactic Double Dutch EP for free recently.

Check out two tracks then go grab all five. A video is below too.

Adebisi Shank today released four quality remixes of songs from their second album. What is contained within? ‘Logdrum’ given a spacey mix by Trenchurian (Rian of Solar Bears), a tropical steel pan lounge version of ‘Frunk’ by Fjokra, a crunchy shattering of ‘Century City’ by Adultrock (aka We Are Losers‘ Gavin Elsted) and Skibunny add vocals to a new version of ‘Masa’. Adebisi play The Button Factory this Saturday with support from the excellent Not Squares. It’s only €10 in.

Adebisi Shank – This is the Second album of a band called Adebisi Shank (Remixes)

If you fancy remixing ‘Genki Shank’ yourself, grab the stems here. You can still listen to the album too.

Alan Reilly at State Magazine recently informed me that Bryce Isbell has 52 RELEASES under his belt and he’s ONLY 22. Make that 53 then as this Polybreak digital-only 7″ (is that allowed?) gifts us two great beat-based tracks: one a collaboration with Gray St. Germain Gideon (previously of Ghosthustler) and Letherette pop up again to remix ‘Friends’. Another fine release on Waaga too. It can also be downloaded directly.

I recently posted a tune from the Solar Bears / FUR collaboration. A remix of FUR from Solar Bears is over at State.

The best new music this week…

  1. El-P – ‘Meanstreak in 3 parts’
Taken from the WeAreAllGoingToBurnInHell Megamixxx3 all-instrumental album, this is classic El-P. Another track ‘Whores: The Movie’ is available for an email swap.

I’m very excited by the prospect of this released especially considering how great Vol. 2 was.

  2. PVT- ‘The Quick Mile’
A highlight of the new PVT (formerly PVT) album Church With No Magic which is out on August 9th. Previously.
  3. Solar Bears – ‘Bear Mountain’
Solar Bears passed on another new track from their upcoming EP with FUR’s Bryce Isbell. You can pre-order both their album and EP from Planet Mu.

A new look weekly chart featuring ten of my most-played tracks this week.

This time around the chart features key cuts from Harlem, Solar Bears, Arcade Fire, Tieranniesaur, Madvillain, The Joy Formidable, Monarchy’s Kelis remix, Jay Electronica, R.S.A.G and Digital Farm Animals.

  1. Arcade Fire – ‘The Suburbs’
My favourite of the two new tracks from the new 12″ which has grown in stature with each listen.
  2. Tieranniesaur - ‘Sketch!’
The best compilation to come out of Ireland in a long time and best of all, Popical Island #1 showcases 15 bright new indie-pop gems you maybe didn’t know this country had.
  3. Harlem – ‘Friendly Ghost’
Jangly indie-rock from Austin three-piece Harlem’s Hippies album out now on Matador.
