Westival is a brand new festival that will make its debut this October in Co. Mayo’s Westport.
Formerly the Westport Arts Festival, the event will run from October 24th-29th with an aim to solidify and promote the west of Ireland as a destination for significant cultural events; Westport’s neighbouring town of Ballina recently hosted a new edition of the annual Other Voices festival.
Unique venues such as Holy Trinity Church, famed for its gothic architecture and the Town Hall Theatre will host some of the festival’s main events. Those seeking a more intimate atmosphere will find suitable gigs in Westport’s main pubs as well as as other pop up venues dotted throughout the town in Other Voices-esque fashion.
The festival boasts an eclectic mix of notable artists including Lisa Hannigan, Daithí and Le Galaxie. As well as music, the festival will host art exhibitions, poetry readings and workshops.
