Ernest Greene’s Washed Out project began by taking samples of minor ’80s hits from VIP Connection, Change and Gary Low on his 2009 debut EP Life Of Leisure and making balmy synth-pop. It birthed the chillwave sound. It was also never matched. His music grew increasingly layered and less urgent.
Today, Greene returned with his first song as Washed Out on Stones Throw Records in four years and it’s certainly got a bit more energy and strut in its rhythm – a blurred disco-synth track that’s just ripe for summer.
