Flying under our radar this month has been the announcement of the debut album from Dublin post-punk/indie trio Percolator. The trio, comprised of ex-members of Dae Kim and joined in 2012 by John ‘Spud’ Murphy of Guerrilla Studios, have been readying the record for the past few years concurrent to their extended-players.

The result, entitled Sestra, releases next Friday via Penske Recordings, the new release house of ex-Out on a Limb/current Plugd man/unfortunate Spurs fan Albert Twomey.

It’s a lovely, brief sliver of the atmospherics on offer on the record, with an accompanying vid from director Thom McDermot, as premiered last month on The Thin Air.

The band is touring to help launch the release, catch them on the road throughout April:
Saturday 15th: Kasbah Social Club, Dolan’s, Limerick (w/Casavettes)
Friday 28th: Coughlan’s Live, Cork (w/The Sunshine Factory)
Saturday 29th: Bello Bar, Dublin (w/Ten Past Seven)

Molossus are a new band formed from members of The Jimmy Cake, Hands Up Who Wants To Die and Percolator, introduced via three tracks recorded live at Guerrilla Studios by music video collective The Practice Tapes.

The members include Eleanor Myler, Paul Clynes, Ian Chestnut, John Dermody and Thomas Parkes.

There are three tracks recorded live (‘Sine’ – 00:00 / ‘Spiky’ – 05:40 / ‘Ocras’ – 09:04) showcasing their alternative rock styles that draw on ambient, punk, garage, shoegaze and krautrock. Fans of Altered Hours will dig this.

As the band define it:

Molossus is the sound of an owl and a bear fighting over a mason jar full of electricity. Imagine a cloud full of razor blades ; you’ve just imagined Molossus. When you find yourself screaming into the abyss, Molossus will whisper back.’

Molossus play 28th of April with Wild Rocket and Venus Sleeps at On The Rox on Coke Lane in Dublin.
