Morgana is prepared to party, ready to cry on second single ‘Power Cuts’; watch the video

We are big fans of the former Saint Sister, who has released the followup to her debut single/Ardal O’Hanlon-starring video for ‘I’ll Cry When I’m Dead’.

Prepared to party, ready to cry?

‘Power Cuts’ is the new single from the artist, sticking the landing with another suave electronic pop song.

The song is concerned with Morgana’s time in the music industry, as an artist now in her thirties, an anthem for embracing age in a young industry, and grappling with the feelings of desperation when everyone seems to be growing up without you.”

It’s a familiar feeling for anyone who pursues a creative endeavour, that is usually less financially rewarding than most jobs.

Forced out of Dublin by crippling rents, while surrounded by friends buying houses, the frustration builds until it bursts. Morgana is jolted awake by a power cut, suddenly on a mission to find true happiness. She unravels the instinct to chase validation, rejects the concern to be liked by everyone, and wakes up, turns around, and dances off into the sunset on her own. Morgana says of the track, “It’s about throwing everything at the wall to realise my dreams.”

Loving the shout out to Clanbrassil Street’s weirdest cocktail karaoke bar.
