The Five Techniques is a new music project created by Belfast DJ & producer David Holmes, are a collective of artists who believe music, art & humanity can be acts of resistance.
The project’s first single ‘Resistance In The Dark’ is out today on Heavenly Recordings featuring Irish-Palestinian Róisín El Cherif and English rock legend Paul Weller on vocals.
The trio connected at the Weller-curated Gig For Gaza, and comes with a song about resistance in Palestine, with El Cherif singing “If my voice should falter, yours will remain,” in Arabic.
“From Naji Ali to today’s Children of Gaza, Palestine is the story of a people’s fight for freedom,” says Róisín El Cherif. “The freedom to be born free in your Homeland. For Palestine our beloved.”
Weller says: “This is our response to the ongoing land grab, displacement and genocide against the Palestinian people by the brutal Israeli government. We wanted to show our solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine, and their ongoing struggle and resistance. It’s a struggle of all people denied their rights.”
The video is a compilation of Gaza destruction put together by Douglas Hart. All proceeds will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).
“Resistance In The Dark” is available now to stream, download or pre-order on 7” vinyl from the 5th December here, to be released 30th January, 2026.
