After the recent re-release of the debut album from One Leg One Eye, the project from Lankum member Ian Lynch and Dublin noise-maker George Brennan adds a new member for their new album.
CRONE is the new One Leg One Eye album, due to be released on AD 93 label, home to James K, Moin, Martha Skye Murphy and YHWH Nailgun, on May 22nd.
The “blackened-deconstructed-folk” band’s first song from the record, doubt you could call this a “single” in the traditional sense – is ‘Many are my Names Besides’, which features actor/writer/director/performer and musician Olwen Fouéré (formerly of Operating Theatre with Irish electronic producer pioneer Roger Doyle) contributing guttural elemental vocals to the track. It’s as black as a crow you can hear on the outro.
Fouéré seemingly features on the album’s other tracks:
Olwen channeled something on this album that we can only describe as awesome, primal and terrifying and the few of us who were in the studio that day with her will never forget it. The entire collaboration was surrounded by portents and augurs from the get go, letting us know that this was the correct path to follow.

About the record:
Leg One Eye’s CRONE shapeshift and morph endlessly in a coarse miasma. Traditional song structures and vocal melody are eschewed, instead the trio directly channel energies from the rich seams of mythological significance submerged below the Irish psyche.
The anger, rage and beauty of the sovereignty goddess burn a consistent and deliberate line through the album in the form of obscure incantations and dire pronouncements, the gnarled sinews that bind it all together.Just as the subject matter of the tracks delve deeper into Irish myth and the remote past, the temporal reality of the album reaches back into the bands prehistory, with the majority of it the material being recorded by Lynch and Brennan in 2021 before One Leg One Eye was conceived of as an entity with Brennan working on the CRONE project while Lynch worked on …And Take The Black Worm With Me.
