Townlands Carnival announces first stage times

Mike McGrath-Bryan

Cork’s Townlands Carnival have begun rolling out stage times and breakdowns for this summer’s festival, taking place July 21-23, detailing the music and art to accompany a full, purpose-built town boasting a wide range of multidisciplinary activities.

Announced for the main stage are headliners Stomptown Brass, Jeru the Damaja, Shookrah, Brushy One-String, Le Boom, Hermitage Green, Rubberbandits, King Kong Company, Krafty Kuts with MC Dynamite, Slamboree and DJ Red I.

The Sibin, a stage set in a tin barn, will play host to the likes of Deliverance, Hvmmingbyrd, Mescalito, Cula Bula, Les Freres Zeugmas, James Or, myfellowsponges, GRAND, and more.

Below is the official unveiling of day breakdowns for the Main Stage of the fest and of the festival’s hidden gem, the Síbín.

Says festival spokesperson Mags Blackburn: “Festival goers are invited to immerse themselves in Carnival by dressing up and joining in the festival theme of ‘Carnival through the Ages’. Whatever this means to you from Rio to Freakshow, be creative and inventive in your costume and roam the land adapted by Our Plastic Legacy, a Cork-based art crew, who will be transforming the town using predominantly recycled/found material. The epic Ge0 Pop projection mapping team will also be providing a moving digital backdrop across the entire Town for you to explore from Sibin to Main Stage.”

Physical tickets are available at JC Murphy’s Bar (Macroom), Organico Cafe (Bantry), Toonbridge Cafe, Bunker Vinyl (Cork), Siopa Gan Ainm (Cork), Shire Bar (Killarney), Spin Dizzy Records (Dublin). For a short time only Tier 2 tickets are available at €125 + booking fee until July 3.
