Yacht – See Mystery Lights
Yacht’s new album See Mystery Lights is a huge leap forward in my estimation from Jona Bechtolt’s previous Yacht album I Believe in You, Your Magic is Real. Now signed to DFA, the new album is steeped much more in the electro, disco and dance of that label. It has more in common with DFA’s other release this year The Juan MacLean’s The Future Will Come especially now that Claire L Evans has joined Jona full-time so you get that boy-girl back and forth thing.
In this interview Jona says the UFOs and lights in the sky that inspired the title also influence the chords used in the music in terms of patterns of chords making up a the shape of a triangle.
