Daithí O’ Dronaí first came to many people’s attention via appearances on TV shows Must Be The Music and All-Ireland Talent Show but he’s proving himself as much more than a mere novelty act these days.
With his trademark electric fiddle, loop stations, Kaoss Pads and table of electronics, the young Galwegian has been making a noticeable noise on the live front. Next Monday, he releases the loop-heavy 7-track EP The Embrace via Bandcamp for €5 and this epic track ‘Sleep Like A Stone’ features on it. The video was directed by Brendan Canty and Conal Thomson. Tour dates for February & March and a live video are after the jump. Daithí will also be seen on Other Voices on the 9th March at 11.45pm.
Tour dates
Feb 25th – Roisin Dubh, Galway.
Feb 26th – Workmans Club, Dublin.
Mar 2nd – On The Record gig with Jennifer Evans and The Kanyu Tree – Twisted Pepper, Dublin.
Mar 3rd – Spirit Store, Dundalk.
Mar 6th – Pavillion, Cork.

That was a great video and a great song, although not being an Irish speaker I have no idea how to pronounce Daithí’s name. Is it like DATH-ee or… ?
