Morcheeba return to Dublin for their first headline show in 18 years at Vicar Street this October.

That’s a long time between visits. Morcheeba’s Skye Edwards and Ross Godfrey have been on an active stretch recently – their eleventh studio album Escape the Chaos came out in May last year, their first since 2021’s Blackest Blue, marking 30 years in music. They celebrated that anniversary with a sold-out Australian tour in February 2026 joined by UNKLE SOUNDS, and the Dublin show continues that run.

For anyone who needs a reminder of why this matters: Morcheeba were one of the defining acts of the late 1990s British downtempo and trip-hop scene, operating in the same post-Bristol landscape as Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky but carving out something distinctly their own – warmer, more song-focused, with Edwards’ unmistakable vocals sitting over Ross Godfrey’s fluid guitar textures and Paul Godfrey’s production.

Their 1998 album Big Calm was a big seller and featured the radio favourite ‘The Sea’, and remains the record most people know them from. They’ve sold over 11 million albums across three decades.

The band’s story has had its share of turbulence – Edwards departed after 2002’s Charango, returned in 2010 for Blood Like Lemonade, and the current Morcheeba is essentially the long-running Edwards and Ross Godfrey partnership that has produced some of their best latter-day work. Live, by all accounts, they remain excellent – Skye’s voice has held up remarkably well and the setlist essentially writes itself given the depth of the back catalogue.

Expect ‘Blindfold’, ‘Trigger Hippie’, ‘Part of the Process’, ‘The Sea’ and new material from Escape the Chaos.
