Ten dates around the country follow the Cobh singer-songwriter’s breakout debut album Tell Your Mother I Saved Your Life
Rua Rí has announced a run of Irish tour dates for this autumn, bringing Tell Your Mother I Saved Your Life to venues from Dundalk to Limerick between September and November.
We’ve been following Seán Damery’s rise since he first announced the record back in March, a quietly essential debut rooted in Cobh, Cork City and the fields and streets around them, produced by Kean Kavanagh.
He wrote a track-by-track on the album in May, taking us through the game of “Johnny Workman” he used to play as a kid in his family’s front room, and the summers spent camping in Marloag Woods that shaped ‘Wonderland’. By the time we picked him as one of the acts not to miss at All Together Now, that handful of singles, ‘Johnny Workman’ and ‘Makeover’ among them, had already marked him out as one of the most distinctive voices in Irish folk right now.
This tour is the next step, a proper lap of the country off the back of that album, taking in some of Ireland’s best small venues along the way.
