Fontaines D.C. have shared a new press photo on Instagram captioned simply “5”, the clearest signal yet that album number five is on the way. No further details, release date, title or anything as yet – just a heads up that the follow up to 2024’s Romance is coming, and on new label XL Recordings as with album four.
It follows the band’s first full headline shows of 2026, played at Baluarte de la Candelaria in Cádiz, where they debuted two new songs live, ‘Marianne’, a menacing, industrial track built around Grian Chatten inviting listeners to “disappear,” and ‘Six Shot Morning’, built on spacey synths and a driving bassline. It was the band’s first time back on stage since the death of their manager Trev Dietz.
Dietz, known affectionately as Trev Radiator, passed away on Sunday June 7th aged 47. A fixture of Dublin’s independent music scene for two decades, first as a DJ and promoter of his own Radiator club nights, then as a booker at The Workman’s Club, Dietz was the man who first put Fontaines D.C. on stage back in 2016, transitioning from promoter to manager and guiding the band from Workman’s shows to becoming one of the biggest rock bands in the world. In their statement at the time, the band called him “the sixth member,” saying they’d never known Fontaines D.C. without him.
Between then and now, the band have kept busy without a tour, contributing to the Peaky Blinders: Immortal Man soundtrack and War Child’s HELP(2) compilation, on which they covered Sinéad O’Connor’s ‘Black Boys on Mopeds’.

No further word yet on when album five actually lands, but between the Cádiz debuts and today’s teaser, it’s on the way.
