Michael Jackson RIP

I can’t really write something today without mentioning MJ can I? You’ve had enough already probably. All I’ll say is that Bad was the first album I ever owned. I used to jump around the couches at home before dinner, attempting to do the moonwalk with the album blaring. Hearing the off-kilter almost strutting beat to ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ for the first time was probably the jumpoff for my interest in much of the weird stuff I’ve listened to since. His groundbreaking music video work made an artform out of a silly novel idea. For all these things, I am thankful and that is what should be remembered. This map shows you his influence on hip-hop. Rest in Peace.

  1. That video (as well as Smooth Criminal) was one of the first I remember being completely captivated by and watching on TV as a really young kid… RIP.

  2. I remember i had a blank video tape that i used to tape all his videos and interviews on. Id hear dirty diana on the tv and coming running in from the kitchen to tape it. Im convinced it was on one of these occasions that i took the corner too sharply and smacked head first into the wall leaving a permanent tiny dent between my eyebrows.

Would love to now find that tape somewhere in the attic.

    Michael Jackson RIP

  3. Bad was my first album too (along with Kylie Minogue’s eponymous album around the same time). They were a birthday gift from my godfather. What a guy.And MJ weren’t bad neither.
