All you need to know for the Collins Barracks outdoor gigs this week
Collins Barracks is hosting the second year of Wider Than Pictures, Singular Artists’ run of outdoor shows which kicked off Monday August 21st with First Aid Kit and continues tonight with YungBlud, Future Islands, The Vamps, Mick Flannery and Franz Ferdinand / Pillow Queens through to Sunday August 28th.
The name Wider Than Pictures comes from the Mogwai song ‘Yes! I Am a Long Way From Home’ from 1997’s Young Team – “Cause music is bigger than words and wider than pictures.”

Wed 23rd : Yungblud (with Ratboy)
Thur 24th : Future Islands (with Just Mustard + Sprints)
Fri 25th : The Vamps (with New Hope Club + Modernlove.)
Sat 26th : Mick Flannery (with Valerine june + Susan O’Neill)
Sun 27th : Franz Ferdinand (with Pillow Queens + Really Good Time)
What time do the gates open?
Gates for all shows open at 6:00pm.
Bars will close at 10:00pm for all shows.
Concerts will finish no later than 10:30pm.
Show times:
Doors – 6pm
Music starts – 6.30pm
Curfew – 10.30pm
Where is the gate entrance?
Entry to each event is through Liffey Street West.
What is the age policy?
All events are over 18’s, (except for The vamps + Yungblud which are 16s + with a Guardian). Please have your ID available and your ticket ready before entering.
Security information
All patrons will be subject to search. Bags must be a4 size or smaller. The National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks is a national landmark. We ask that you respect the building, be patient with access and egress.
Safety
For the safety and well-being of our attendees the following items are prohibited:
- Fireworks, chinese lanterns, flares and high-power torches
- Alcohol or drugs
- Animals (except guide dogs) are not allowed
- Anything which could be considered an offensive weapon
- Laser pens
- Professional photographic equipment is not allowed
- (This applies to cameras that have detachable lenses and/or drones)
- Selfie sticks
- Umbrellas
- High-vis clothing
- Bicycles are not permitted on site.
Anyone found carrying illicit items will have them confiscated and may be removed from the event and passed over to the Garda as a result.
Travel
There is no parking on site for this event with adjacent roads closed. Organisers ask that you travel by public transport where possible.
The National Museum of Ireland is served by the Luas Red Line – please alight at the museum stop. The venue is a 29 minute walk from O’Connell Street or a 10 minute walk from Heuston Station.
