Over the last week, Johnny Jewel has posted some unreleased stuff from his various projects on Soundcloud.

It includes an alternative, brooding version of ‘Cherry’, a cover of ‘Blue Moon’, a solo piece called ‘The Last Dance’ and a 8-track version of Kill For Love album track ‘At Your Door’, an instrumental of “Camera’ along with some older, previously available material.

Just in time for Summah, it’s the latest podcast featuring a solo run from me (Aoife is a bizzy lady at the moment). 14 songs taken from recent and greatest releases this year and beyond.

It’s kind of bizarre than Johnny Jewel would choose to give away After Dark 2, the followup to the 2007 original, for free, a compilation that seemed to have been long in the works but that’s just what he’s done. He says:

Last time we were in Amsterdam…I uploaded the “Running From The Sun” LP.
Tonight we are in Amsterdam again…Still high from our amazing weekend in Paris. We left North America in such a frenzy…I didn’t have time to post this album. We are so happy with all the shows on this trip. This has seriously been the best of the best for us in Europe. Can’t wait for London, Dublin & Barcelona round 2. We’re rabid & ready…

The only snag is it’s all one file so if you want them separately, and you should, get it on iTunes. After Dark 1 is available the same way. And yes, Chromatics and Glass Candy are playing Dublin this Thursday.

Chromatics are the makers of my album of 2012 and they have finally been announced to play a Dublin headline show after their brilliant set at Forbidden Fruit last year. Johnny Jewel will also be bringing his Glass Candy project along for a double header. Exciting.

The gig takes place in The Village (it’s been a while) on June 13th. Tickets on sale tomorrow. Tickets are €20 plus fees.

Glass Candy
This Italians Do It Better After Dark 2 compilation is beholden with great tracks already. Desire’s ‘Heaven’, the Chromatics’ track ‘Cherry’ and now, this Glass Candy cut, initially premiered for on the runways of Paris Fashion week makes it three for three.

Still no word on when the triple disc compilation (and gold glitter vinyl) will actually be released but for now, this is another salivating morsel. There was also a Geto Boys cover from Glass Candy last week, also below.
