The impressive mantelpiece round our house after the Choice Prize and Blog Award wins.
Super fun times last night at the 3rd annual blog awards where I won Best Music Blog for the second year running. I’ve come to realise I’m quite a humble fellah so I didn’t think it would happen. Luckily, the backlash has yet to set in! Major props to Aoife who was also nominated in the Music category and who I FORGOT TO THANK for being the voice of the nialler9 Podcast. Gah! Soz love but at least your gun is tres cool! Also Johnny from DownloadMusic.ie for sponsoring the award. I must echo last night’s sentiments about diversity in the Irish blogosphere, there are now so many blogs around each category that I was unaware of many of them. I’m particularly impressed by the Food blogs who are doing great (and mouthwatering) things with the medium like Little Bird Eats and The Humble Housewife, both who I met last night and were lovely.
Also allow me to give some shoutouts (hold your breath) to : Ailbhe (and her fancy attire) and Bren from Analogue, Darragh, Loreana, John Cav and Ronan, Andy, Phil, Annie, the brilliant Sweary (who remains robbed of an award as yet), blogging overlord Twenty Major, Una, Shinpads (three in a year, well done!), Rick (sterling work sir), Derek, Shane Hegarty, Cillian, Stuart Bailie (who was telling me about the Oh Yeah Centre in Belfast), Ken Stanley, Ken McGuire, Ray, Sabrina, Stu, Eolaí (superb to meet him), Manuel, Eddie, Rymus and his sneaky camera, Lili, Corina, Kieran, Suzy, Colm and all the others I met who I can’t remember, sorry but do leave a comment if you see this.
It was smiles all round and everyone was ridiculously nice so I think we need to instigate a blog war for next year to replace the back-slapping with some back-stabbing. Or maybe not. Also, I’d like to see more music bloggers there next year so I can finally meet them: You know who you are..
Absolutely reserved, special thanks and praise to Damien and the Awards team for the superb superb organisation. Damien, I meant to buy you a drink but you were swamped with gin and tequila so hope you survived that!

Shinpads? I’m liking it. I might look into changing my name by deed poll.
Also lists of folk like the one above make me realise who I missed bumping into. Damn it.
Well deserved on your double, that’s a fine looking mantel piece. I especially like the little brown dude in the bottom left corner.
Whoop! Congrats to you, well deserved.
I’m probably never going to forgive you for not thanking me though.

Well done dude! good luck with the mag this week looking forward to it
Nice one bruv!
Congrats Niall – hope this makes up for the disappointment of not winning an oscar this year.
Well done.
We(3 of us) were there alright but there is only so much networking you can do on an empty stomach so we left afterwards to grab something to eat. We thought we would be returning to a full on 80s night but it was all pretty quiet when we got back after midnight. Anyhow another time..
Nice to catch up with you again good sir… three in a row next year? Ah go on..!
Good to meet ya fella, best of luck with the new thingy n all that……if you are ever up this way gimme a shout….
There should be a category at next year’s Blog Awards for Best Commenter on Blogs. Mumblin’ Deaf Ro would totally win it.
Congratulations Niall! Gonna make it a hat trick next year? Lovely to meet both you and Aoife last night 🙂

Nialler, congratulations – it’s well-deserved. I know people here in Paris who have no links to/idea of Ireland but still discovered your site and read it regularly. Do you qualify for the Bloggers Champions League now? ;D
(football-related point: surely to God you don’t really have a poster of Peter Crouch over your mantelpiece???)

This time I made sure to save this to my del.icio.us links. Not much on the USA blog front. Won’t someone tell me if tecktonik has arrived in England.
Sorry, I must go to bed. I meant Ireland.
Congrats, man…
Oh, and I meant to say, thanks for being my primary source for finding out about new music.

I’m fucking gutted. I’ve been engaging in self harm over the weekend so this is a bit difficult to type. I’m totally snapping that I went to the bother of sacrificing my new born son in the belief that it would help bring the ‘Best Music Blog’ home to Chez Vinyl. I sometimes wonder why I bother at all?
Oh yeah. Well done!
Matt
Congrats and kildare4sam and indie was robbed!
(P.S I notice that photo was cleverly cropped to leave my trophy out. Makes sense though, wouldn’t want to show you and the boners up on yissers big week)
