The hosts of the Nialler9 Podcast (Niall Byrne and Andrea Cleary) in conjunction with The Big Romance present the Listen Closely series of listening parties, a night featuring a focus album from an artist we love on the last Wednesday of the month.
Our January album listening party is suitably seasonal. This month’s Listen Closely:
Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever Ago (2007)
Justin Vernon launched his Bon Iver career with a debut album of acoustic folk heartbreak on Jagjaguar. The story goes that Vernon recorded the album in a log cabin in North Wisconsin in a three month stint of solitude. After burying his dead computer in the snow, Vernon went on to write one of the most defining cathartic albums about love of the new century, featuring songs like ‘Skinny Love’, ‘Flume’, ‘The Wolves’ and ‘For Emma’.
Come and listen to the album with us hear some thoughts on the record on Wednesday January 29th at 7:30pm, on plush warm vinyl at full volume in The Big Romance’s wonderfully warm Toby Hatchett soundsystem.
Down to the last few tickets already.
