CMAT nominated for BRIT Award International Artist Of The Year

Avatar

CMAT is the Irish representative on the nominees for the Brit Awards which were just revealed.

The Irish artist was nominated for BRIT Award International Artist Of The Year alongside Burna Boy, Caroline Polachek, Taylor Swift, Kylie Minogue, Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA and more.

CMAT said in her newsletter on the nomination:

Some other previous winners of the award I am nominated for include: Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, Billie Eilish and again, to reiterate, Beyoncé. Looking at this list it is very obvious that the category is in dire need of some Former-Regional-Debenhams-Store-Worker representation, so am feeling quietly confident about my being a shoe-in.

I am having to consider the international implications of me possibly winning a little statue of a lady with union jacks and ‘BRITANNIA’ emblazoned across her chest. And by ‘international implications’ I mean ‘how my sisters will slag me off for it’. My solution at the moment would be to sew a tiny little Tricolour cape to drape around her shoulders, although I’m sure I don’t need to worry as somebody who is actually famous will win.
Which leads me onto my next point – am I… the least famous person to ever be nominated for a BRIT in its entire history? I think that I am. As such, no matter what happens I will still feel a huge sense of accomplishment.

Jazzy’s ‘Giving Me’ was also nominated in the BRIT International song category.
