Connolly’s of Leap celebrates a year open with a big Christmas & NYE lineup
Connolly’s is a newly re-opened venue in the West of Cork in the town of Leap run by Sam McNicholl with a bunch of friends.
His father Paddy ran the place and brought bands of all kinds down to the wilds like The Frames, John Martyn, Lightning Bolt, The Pale, Something Happens, Donal Lunny and Fugazi among them.
Last December, Sam re-opened the venue and his home and he’s had a superb year of events. To mark the occasion they’ve got a great lineup of acts this month including Lisa O’Neill, Floating Joints with Meltybrains? and Le Boom, Caoimhin O’Raghallaigh and Cormac Begley, Glen Hansard, Talos, Daithí and a NYE party.
I interviewed Sam last year about the venue but check out Jack Leonard’s infographic about the venue worth the visit.
