Delicious 9 (Del 9) animation crew and Front End Synthetics (FES) present an once-off event to celebrate their respective endeavours and creative partnership over the years in Irish electronic music.

Having both launched 25 years ago, and with a long-standing relationship with the venue that was Temple Bar Music Centre, now Button Factory (the launch party for the record label Front End Synthetics (still going strong) happened there in 2000 and Delicious 9’s first performed visuals for Aphex Twin in the same place that year), it made sense to put this gig on in the venue’s new space Curveball on Saturday November 29th.

Playing live are:

Of One
Alan O’Boyle is one half of Decal and Legion of Two, and all of Legion of One to name just some of his musical output. A legend of Irish techno, electro and electronica. Having released on such a-list labels like Rotters Golf Club, Planet-mu, D1, Leaf, Law & Auder and Saberettes, he has recently had releases flying out over the past couple of years on various independent labels, with a new LEGION OF ONE album out the weekend of this event on FES. This is his first full-length Of One performance.

Colonel Modules
Trev O’Reilly is one half of legendary electronic duo Ambulance, another Planet-mu and Front End Synthetics favourite, who also releases under Dave Nuremberg. Trev is another veteran of the Irish electronica scene. Expect a full modular synth performance where anything can go wrong, but it never does.

The Alpha Incident
Andy Clarke made his debut release on the first ever Front End Synthetics compilation “The Ground Floor”. A multi instrumentalist, he was a founding member of the beloved 00’s Dublin math rock outfit Connect 4 Orchestra and has been a stalwart of that epoch of Dublin indie, performing and recording with acts such as Goodtime John.

Live Visuals/DJs:
Delicious 9
Delicious 9 went on to create a large body of music video work before Youtube appeared. Scrounging together animated visions that convinced RTE and MTV to play their work late night, Del 9 created for acts such as Max Tundra, Caribou, Luke Vibert, The Frames and more – featuring on a Warp Records DVD release and a full Caribou DVD release (named “Marino” after the Dublin location of the house where the crew both lived and worked for several years).

Tickets from €22+.

To further celebrate this anniversary, a fully remastered version of the Del 9 video for ‘Whindie’ by Ambulance released on Front End Synthetics has been produced.

Originally scratched into fragments of 35mm film salvaged from the bins behind Cineworld Parnell St. – the video was edited and delivered in ancient Standard Def digital video (720x576px). The original scratched film was recently rescanned in HDR 4K resolution, resulting in over 25 times the detail of the original video. A bombastic audio video treat of textural lushness worth checking out. Click below to watch now.
