Egan’s – new pub on Aungier Street launches this weekend with live bands and DJ sets

Dublin has a new pub offering that launches with live music and DJs this weekend.

Egan’s is an old-school boozer at 17 Aungier Street (formerly Bow Lane Social) that officially launches this weekend.

Egan’s say they are a “trad pub-meets-dive bar” going on to say it’s a “local, intimate, and cozy bar for Dubliners and visitors alike, it’s a boozer that keeps things simple: classic cocktails, thoughtfully selected craft beers – including the house-brewed Baby Duck Hazy Pale – and good music, with no gimmicks.”

Music wise, post-punk and indie features on the speakers, and the food menu features hot honey toasties to steak frites and pizza by the slice.

This weekend Saturday July 12th and Sunday July 13th, the pub has a DJ set from yours truly Nialler9 and Skinner alongside me playing weird disco, post-punk and alternative tunes from 9pm, before the Paradisco afterparty DJs drop fresh from the boat party from 11pm.

On Sunday, an afternoon trad session from Madra Salach takes place from 3pm to 5pm with and live sets from Dublin alt-rock band Basht with support from Dublin-based indie post-punk band Croíthe on Sunday evening from 7pm. Basht is ticketed but free.

About Egan’s

Egan’s is the result of a new partnership between Oisín Egan and Geoff Nordell – two names well-known in Dublin’s food and drink scene. Oisín brings over 15 years of bar experience to the project, having worked in much-loved institutions such as Dice Bar, P Mac’s, and Blackbird. With a background in sound engineering and a long-standing passion for music, he first started out in pubs at just 17 before moving into events and promotion – bringing a selector’s ear and a tastemaker’s instinct to every space he’s worked in.

Geoff, a chef by trade, has been a familiar figure on Aungier Street for over 15 years, having run both Bow Lane Social and Whitefriar Grill in the very same space.

The venue accommodates up to 140 seated guests or 200 standing, with semi-private areas available for bookings Sunday through Thursday. To reserve, email [email protected] or WhatsApp +353 (0)83 333 9067.

“Opening Egan’s has been a natural next step for me after a lifetime in hospitality. I wanted to create the kind of pub I’d love to drink in myself no fuss, just great Guinness, good music, and a warm, comfortable space to disappear into. These days, so many bars feel like they’re built to be seen in. Egans is built to belong in. It’s a modern, “old man’s” pub, and I’m proud to have opened it at a time when it’s harder than ever to get something off the ground, especially in Dublin. But I believe there’s still room for small, personal places that feel like home.”
