Emmanuelle’s ‘Free Hifi Internet’ is a shade-throwing club jam you need in your life
“Sorry I’m late, I just didn’t want to come. Is there a wifi in here?”.
I’ve been looking out for more information on this track ever since I heard it on a Soulwax Despacio mix for the BBC.
The song is an instant earworm, an electro-bounce featuring the Brazilian-born singer Emmanuelle more interested in the wifi connection than the human connection at this party. She just couldn’t be bothered. “Tonight I’d rather be in my room / getting high on some wifi.” She throws some serious shade. The best part? The sound of Siri being used as a melody in the song.
The Soulwax boys are releasing Emmanuelle’s ‘Free Hifi Internet’ on their DeeWee label digitally on Friday and on vinyl on Monday. A Portugese version is on the B-side.
