The Dublin four-piece indie band Still Blue are one of my favourite new Irish discoveries of 2022.
The music that vocalist/songwriter Nicole Lyons, lead guitarist Ruairi Forde, bassist Noelle Duffy and drummer Gregory Kearns make caught my ears with their great second single, the melodic indie track ‘Whatcha Gonna Do’ in March, and I invited them along to showcase at Output in Belfast the next month.
They recently played the We’ve Only Just Begun festival in Whelan’s.
This week, the band will release their new single ‘Ladybird’, a track that was written in the deepest recess of lockdown that “speaks on feelings of isolation and the longing for human connection.”
The track was recorded by the band and produced and mixed by drummer Gregory Kearns.
This is a band who in a short time have developed their own pocket of sound, drawing on the zeitgeist of indie rock in 2022 but forging their own melodic-driven path.
i’ve grown to admire the wind,
found comfort in the rain
but without what i depend on
how will i stay sane?

Ladybird is released on DSPs tomorrow, Friday August 19th, and a video will follow.
