The Foo Fighters Other Voices special filmed in Dingle earlier this year has a broadcast date: Easter Monday, April 6th at 9:30pm on RTÉ2, with worldwide streaming on the RTÉ Player.
The one-hour programme captures the band’s secret show at St James’ Church in Dingle on Sunday February 22nd – an 80-capacity performance filmed ahead of the release of their new album Your Favorite Toy on April 24th. It also kicks off Other Voices’ 25th anniversary celebrations.
The show wasn’t a secret for long Rumours started circulating when the band’s equipment was spotted outside St James’ Church on the Saturday afternoon. The next day, promoters MCD confirmed an 800-cap Dublin show at The Academy on Monday February 23rd – tickets were available in person only at the 3Olympia Theatre box office.
The Dingle setlist was a career-spanning 12-song run that opened with ‘A320’ – a rarely-played cut from the 1998 Godzilla soundtrack that hadn’t been played live since 2000 – before moving through fan favourites including ‘My Hero’, ‘All My Life’, ‘Learn To Fly’, ‘Everlong’, and ‘Times Like These’, alongside new material from Your Favourite Toy.
Other Voices founder Philip King called it “a wonderful musical gift” and “the smallest stadium gig in the world.” Dave Grohl said of the experience: “We have never done something like this before. We have played small shows to intimate audiences, but this is our first church.”
