It’s time to have an annual look at the lineup of the biggest college party in Ireland – the Trinity Ball.
This year’s Trinity Ball on Friday April 10th is headlined by none other than 2010s Brighton rap duo Rizzle Kicks? RIZZLE KICKS?
Yep, you’d be perfectly excused if you didn’t know that the UK duo are back, and while I remember them being fairly bit players on the scene at the time, they are back releasing music, with one tune featuring Rachel Chinouriri. Still it’s surprising that a band that were active when Trinity goers were aged seven or eight are headlining the thing. Such is the charm and unique booking position of the Trinity Ball.
Elsewhere, it’s a much more expected affair with big slots for Mullingar indie pop band The Academic, Dublin hip-hop pop artist Khakikid, and Aussie rave DJ Juicy Romance.
The presence of Jedward is a welcome bit of madness, alongside young dance DJs Tara Casey and CamrinWatsin, and the undercard features Dublin rapper Sugaboo, post-Midwest Emo Irish band Child Of Prague, funksters Grooveline and Dublin rock band Black Nylon among some Trinity acts.
