California man Mikey Sanders may be the only brain behind Blackbird Blackbird but the frequency with which he seems to have churned out oodles of dream pop jams hasn’t diminished the quality of the songs one iota. The tunes are reverb-heavy, succint and “chillwave” (it’s still a useful signifier) and Sanders is adept at creating starry gems of considerable calibre.
Blackbird Blackbird’s Bandcamp account offers plenty to salivate over: an album Summer Heart (out next week), a free EP called Modern Disbelief, a rarities collection and a single. There are also numerous remixes and a superb cover of Modest Mouse’s ‘Float On’:
