Richie Egan has bestowed upon us his inspired cover of that seminal 1982 paean ‘Africa’ which he recorded last week. The thing I remember most about Toto are their striking album covers. Toto IV was my favourite cover and that’s the album that ‘Africa’ resides on. As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti, Richie hopes you like it.
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation /
I stopped an old man along the way /
Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancient melodies /
He turned to me as if to say, hurry boy, its waiting there for you
Oh yeh..

playing fine for me. anyone else? what browser / OS are you using?
working grand for me 2
Bleedin wicked. I can’t listen to it here in work but I’ll check it later. The original tune is one of my guilty pleasures. I have the Toto IV album on vinyl at home (and will guiltily admit to listening to Rosanna just the other day). I was a big fan of Toto and in particular their drummer Jeff Porcaro. Many pop and rock fans probably wouldn’t realise that he was THE session drummer to employ when making your album back in the eighties. RIP Jeff. Long live Richie
LOVE IT! Africa is a great tune! Never heard it covered before only sampled. Thanks for posting, this Jape cover has made our day.
all the best,

Hah love it. That Egan chap is such a mischevious little scamp…
Problematic for me too. Not liking this new mp3 player, Nialler. Haven’t been able to open one file yet with it…
Using MS IE.
Well you know you can click directly too..
‘I know that I must do what’s right /
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti’
brings a tear to the eye, it does
Absolutely love that tune, should be a laugh when cash sees this..
Jeff Pocaro, the drummer from Toto actually did die in a bizarre gardening accident.
Not really but it’s a popular urban legend. Maybe, it may be been coke related too.
wow thats pretty cool, i need to check out his other stuff
i really loved the synths in the original but this has some really nice synths too
Nice one
i hate this tune so much that i scraped it off a record my girlfriend had with a screwdriver.
i’d do it again in a heartbeat.
its working for me now, wooo!
