Kez is a relatively new artist who has just released a new single, written with singer-songwriter and producer James Smith (J. Smith / YURN).

The song is one of a batch, originally written for a collaborative album and film that brought together artists including Denise Chaila, Tolu Makay, God Knows, and James Smith.

The project was shelved but the creative partnership with Smith continued with him producing this track ‘In The Arms’ – a song which has ambient piano pop and electronic expanses in its delicate repeating patterns.

In the Arms

“A lot of my music deals with falling apart – about breaking gracefully and finding a sense of faith amidst a collapse. I’ve always felt this sense of disintegration – like vertigo –  like falling – I think that’s also reflective of wider things going on right now.

Film scores have always been a huge source of inspiration for me. Right now I’m obsessed with Ludwig Göransson’s soundtrack for Oppenheimer, and some of the synth choices in “In the Arms” are a nod to that score.”

Kez is playing All Together Now this year, and has previously collaborated with Alex Gough.
