Kneecap have been added to EP this year after their charged Glastonbury performance.
Electric Picnic announced the band’s addition to the festival today, two days after the band played their notorious Glastonbury set at the West Holts stage, which was banned by the BBC.
The band’s set was much-anticipated and the area around West Holts was shut down prior to their set.
The band came out to a montage of politicians saying Kneecap shouldn’t be playing Glastonbury (watch below), and the set included chants of “Fuck Keir Starmer”, Moglai Bap saying of Mo Chara’s terrorism charge – “It’s not the first time there was a miscarriage of justice for an Irish person in the British justice system” and they also thanked Glastonbury organisers for standing by them.
The band clarified earlier comments in the set to start a riot outside the at Westminster Magistrates court on August 20, with a “disclaimer” that there the focus should be on solidarity and “support for Palestine”.
They also said “We fucking love the English people, it’s the English government we can’t stand.”
