Culture Night Dublin late night nightclub music trail announced

This year’s Culture Night takes place on Friday September 20th, and continues to try and push the late night programming agenda further into the night every year.

Previously, Nialler9 co-curated Night Moves, a sampler of club culture collectives featuring DJs and discussions in the Fruit and Veg Market in Smithfield.

This year, Culture Night is highlight Dublin’s existing club spaces, in the context of a country where there are now only 90 nightclubs left in Ireland.

The Nocturnal Beats Music Trail is a free series of events showcasing Dublin’s nightlife. Featuring key venues like Index, Tengu, Wigwam, Pygmalion, Hen’s Teeth and music bars Love Tempo and Fidelity, a free programme of music spans the city centre’s club venues, all highlighting a different aspect of Irish club culture.

There’s also some outdoor events focusing on soundsystem culture.

Here’s what’s announced on the electronic and club front so far:

Index: Sunil Sharpe, Dylan Fogarty, Surka and January Winters

Headlining is Dublin’s own techno legend Sunil Sharpe, bringing his high-energy sets that have captivated dance floors worldwide. Support comes from rising talent Dylan Fogarty, Surka and January Winters who have all been making their mark on the city over the past year.

Yamamori Tengu – focusing on Soundsystem Culture (10pm – 3am)

Featuring Rub A Dub Hifi + Ambit, Governess, Jonezy, Kelsey & Ciara May + MC/Host TBC
Local system Rub A Dub Hifi as well as inviting an lineup of DJs will be playing all kinds of dub, from reggae, dubstep, jungle, dnb and more. MC Mad X will be hosting the night and bringing her fierce energy to the room.

Pygmalion presents: Nocturnal Beats featuring Hammer, Colin Perkins & Pablo Santo (8pm – 11pm)

Belfast producer Hammer of Feel My Bicep headlines.

Free but booking required.


Hen’s Teeth & Rory Bowens Present: Nocturnal Beats featuring Róisín Berkeley, Bog Band & Dreamcastmoe (7pm – 1am)

Rory Bowens & Hen’s Teeth Presents: Culture Night with experimental Irish harpist and composer Róisín Berkeley, Irish alternative pop duo bog band & Washington DC native and producer Dreamcastmoe.

Wigwam: Drag Show And DJs (7pm – 3am)

We’re delighted to be involved in this year’s Dublin City ‘Culture Night Nocturnal Beats: Late Night Trail’. We’ll be kicking things off at 7pm with a two hour drag performance by our fabulous resident Queens, followed by DJ sets by some of our venue’s fave locals who are absolutely killing it at the moment until 3am


Programming announcements for the Nocturnal Beats Trail for Love Tempo and Fidelity are to be announced.


In a similar vein, some outdoor events featuring soundsystems are also taking place, Funded by Culture Night Late, City Sounds is a late night dance event celebrating Ireland’s growing soundsystem culture.

City Sounds: Rise Up Sound System with t-woc, Jwy and Jonezy at Central Plaza

City Sounds: Bang Bike Collective with Dimebag DJs and JBR Project ft. Pinsleep at Essex Street

City Sounds: Interruption with Lyndz B2B GVX, Scidley Rott and David Oblivion at Capel Street
