Am i missing something here? The record labels are covered by insurance, which means they can reproduce the stock and sell it and therefore make the profit they want. Why would a fire, which only means they have to make an insurance claim, warrant a post to “help” them?
Nobody buys fucking records anymore,independent record companies are finding it increasingly difficult to keep running in these tough times. thousands of records have been destroyed,hard work ruined..I suppose there’s always one know-all who has to have their say.Twat.

Insurance only covers cost price of stock. A lot of these labels are now left hanging without physical stock to sell. Hard for any business. Beggars Group alone lost 750,000 CDs to the fire. Memphis Industries say 90% of their total stock was lost.
Look, these labels have provided me and plenty like me with a lot of beautiful music to listen to so this is mostly an altruistic gesture to encourage people to support them if they feel the same way or are so inclined. If you don’t agree then don’t buy the music. Simple.
Are they definitely covered by insurance though? I can’t think of a single insurance policy that covers Civil Unrest.
A warehouse that big should have some kind of insurance policy to cover something of this nature.

Beggars Group claimed that their insurance covered replacement costs as well, so hopefully the labels that are part of it (4AD, Matador, Rough Trade, etc.) won’t be too hardly hit by this. At best, this will just mean a delay and some short-term stock shortages for them.

John Grant and Laura Veirs aren’t on that label by the way, they’re Bella Union. Duke And the King are no longer on it by the looks of things.
