So If you gathered anything from this blog in the last five months, it should be that Marina and the Diamonds is a massive talent. The ‘Obsessions / Mowgli’s Road’ 7″ was my favourite release for a while and while she is off recording her debut for 679/Warners after 14 labels expressed an interest in signing her. Liam Howe from Sneaker Pimps is producing it and if she can keep her focus off her obsessions with leotards and regal things then it should be a great first album. Marina is putting up demos on her myspace page as she works, a tune called ‘Jealousy’ is up now or read her blog (Read her thoughts on Lady Gaga).
‘The Shampain Sleeper’ was the first song I heard after the initial 7″ and it was proof that Marina would make a stellar pop act. Stay tuned to State for an interview with Marina on Friday.
