Night for Palestine to take place in Limerick’s Record Room

Cathal Ryan
Strange Boy

The Record Room will host a special night for Palestine this week with proceeds raised from the event going to displaced families in Gaza.

On Friday March 8th a swath of Limerick’s finest artists will descend on the Record Room for a night of trad, song, hip hop, and DJs, alongside guest speaker Neda’a Yousef.

Sets on the night will come from a wide array of acts like Strange Boy, Sean O’Meara, and Hazey Haze as well as a surprise performer.

Originally from Ramallah, Palestine, activist Neda’a Yousef is undertaking a PhD in Law at University College Cork specialising in human trafficking.

Tickets, which cost €20, will be limited at the door and can be found here. All of the proceeds on the night will go directly to provide help to the many displaced families in Gaza.

I think it’s important as an artist to speak up against oppression and genocide because at the heart of what we do as artists is give power to our humanity and conscience, which is exactly the opposite of what is going on in Palestine, their humanity is being ignored and there’s no conscience present when violence acts and genocide is being committed against them. Free Palestine.

Strange Boy

The full lineup features an eclectic mix of Limerick artists including Strange Boy, Neda’a Yousef, Hazey Haze, Wise Wolf, Tulua, Nósanna, Nermhspleácha, Sean O’Meara, Abe Soare, Sean Abhaile, Signor Bari and a special guest to be announced on the night.

Oíche don Phalaistín takes place at 7:30pm on Friday, March 8th at Limerick’s Record Room, Catherine Street, and is run by Irish Artists For Palestine, you can find more events, fundraising campaigns, and petitions from the organisation here.
