ØXN is the name of the experimental doom folk project from the foursome of Radie Peat (Lankum), Katie Kim, Eleanor Myler (Percolator) and John ‘Spud’ Murphy (Percolator and producer with Lankum, Black Midi, Katie Kim, Junior Brother among others).
Their debut song ‘Love Henry’ was released a few months ago on Claddagh Records, and now they’ve announced two live shows in Dublin, along with their debut album CYRM on the revived Irish label.
CYRM [pron. sy-rum] features six tracks and runs at 45 minutes will be released via Claddagh Records on Friday October 27th 2023.
The two gigs at the Sugar Club presented by Enthusiastic Eunuch and Foggy Notions will launch the record – on October 31st with support Iona Zajac, and November 1st with support from Poor Creature.
Tickets to both Sugar Club shows are on sale now. Tickets €22 + booking fee available from tickets.ie.
“We had rehearsed so intensely for our live stream in the Martello tower that we figured it would be the best thing to book in studio time right away. So, during some phase of the pandemic, we went up to Hellfire Studios and got battered by gales and petted cows while putting down the bones of the album. Some of said gale can be heard on The Feast. The rest of it, mainly vocals, recorded by Katie and Spud back in Guerilla Studios.”
CYRM features four original songs and two covers (‘The Wife of Michael Cleary’ by Maija Sofia and ‘Farmer in the City’ by Scott Walker).
CYRM Tracklist
- Cruel Mother
- The Trees They Do Grow High
- Love Henry
- The Feast
- The Wife of Michael Cleary
- Farmer in the City
