PIAS Distribution warehouse destroyed in London Riots: full list of labels
As you’ll be aware by now: At 4am last night, during the London riots, the 20,000 square meter SonyDADC warehouse in Enfield which stocks a vast majority of the physical releases for PIAS Distribution labels was burnt down. 150 labels or so in total are affected including Warp, Domino, Rubyworks, Vagrant, All City, Beggars, Chemikal Underground, Fabric, Kompakt, Memphis Industries, One Little Indian, Rock Action, Rough Trade, Secretly Canadian, Jagjaguar, Sunday Best and many more. These labels are the lifeblood of this blog and represent a big part of independent music worldwide, not just in the UK and Ireland so I ask you to support them in any way you can but namely by buying digital copies of albums from the labels affected. Let’s hope these valuable businesses can survive the blow…
Here’s a statement from PIAS on the matter:
Update:
Latest update – Sony DADC have actioned their Business Continuity Plan and are back up and running from a new control room in Enfield. PIAS continue to work with them to minimise the impact on the business, a number one priority for all labels and clients. SonyDADC have identified a temporary distribution partner and it is envisaged that they will be in a position to pick, pack and ship orders in the course of next week.
This follows an earlier statement regarding a fire last night at the SonyDADC warehouse, which services the physical distribution for PIAS in the UK and Ireland. PIAS’s UK offices in London and all other areas of our business are unaffected. More information will be communicated shortly to all our labels and partners
Further details will follow tomorrow morning.
We wish to thank everyone for the overwhelming messages of support.
Meanwhile the Association of Independent Music is offering assistance to labels.
