Rock For Culture protest planned next week against redevelopment of Fibber's beer garden

With the recent announcement that planning permission has been granted to turn turn the large outdoor beer garden used by three pubs in the North city centre, shared by Fibber Magee’s, The Living Room and Murray’s, into more hotel rooms, a protest is gathering apace for next Thursday August 11th.

Planning permission was approved by Dublin City Council for a large extension to the Holiday Inn Express on O’Connell Street which will take back the large outdoor courtyard and turn it into a six-storey extension to the hotel which is designed to provide 89 additional hotel rooms.

Rock For Culture is spearheading the protest, due to take place outside the Holiday Inn on Parnell Street.

The gathering will feature musicians and performers, and speakers on the importance of protecting Irish art and culture.
