RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards looking for emerging artist entries
After debuting last year, the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards will return with a live event in Dublin’s Vicar Street on October 24th presented by John Creedon and Ruth Smith, which will honour artists in the genre in Ireland.
Last year’s winners included Emma Langford, Declan O’Rourke and Andy Irvine while Saint Sister, Lankum, Andy Irvine, Landless, Iarla O’Lionard, The Lost Brothers and Slow Moving Clouds were among the performers.
For this year, RTÉ Radio 1 is calling out for emerging folk artists to submit their music to be considered for the Best Emerging Artist category.
Artists are being asked to submit one piece and a description to [email protected] with Best Emerging Artist in the subject title. Those submitted will then be sent to the judging panel (I was on this last year).
Entry is by this Sunday night at 10pm so get cracking if you’re interested.
