So what if it’s only Tuesday! This song won’t be beat! It’s been steadily working its way into my brain for the better part of two weeks to the point where I’m listening to it four or five times a day on repeat. It’s such a perfect little “indie” song with the exception that Norwegian-born / Swedish-based Ida Maria sings with more fervour and soul than your average indie boy frontman, starting with such impetuosity that by the end she’s snarling/howling the chorus at us. The distinctly Scandanavian backing vocals of Johannes Lindberg are a nice touch too.

I love that sort of Swedish diction. You can tell a Swedish band a mile off. Good song.
It’s funny how everyone outside Sweden seem to like that sort of Swedish diction. “You can tell a Swedish band a mile off”… you sure can, and as a Swede, that’s what I find so extremely boring about the Swedish music scene. I couldn’t believe it when HWCH picked the most average band of them all for the Scandinavian invasion: the Concretes, when they could’ve brought over The Tough Alliance or Little Dragon for example. Ah well, I must admit I like this song even though it sounds like 90 % of the Swedish music scene 🙂
Lina, Just to re-iterate The Concretes I didn’t see but it did see the LK who were the epitome of one good song-everything else boring as you can get.
Any other recommendations for us from Sweden?
Well if you like The Tough Alliance (I personally think A New Chance is the Swedish album of the year) I would recommend The Embassy (check out the album Tacking) and Suburban Kids With Biblical Names. Then Little Dragon as mentioned above, and if you haven’t heard of Koop I’d recommend you to check them out. Someone who’s been all over Sweden this year is the musical genius Salem Al Fakir with his debut album This Is Who I Am. He sounds like a young Stevie Wonder with a bit of 70’s prog and funk.
Uhm, that’s about it haha. There’s a reason why I prefer international music magazines and travel to events like HWCH 😉
