Wednesday July 23rd at The Big Romance
This month’s album:
The Prodigy – Music For the Jilted Generation [1994]
A classic ’90s rebellious rave album and sonic riposte to the crackdown on outdoor rave parites as a result of the 1994’s Criminal Justice Bill in the UK. Features Prodigy classics ‘Voodoo People’, ‘Poison’, ‘No Good (Start the Dance’, and ‘One Love’ and set the band off on a path of longterm rave and chart crossover that over 20 years later sees them as one of the premiere live dance acts in the world.
Join Niall for a playback of the album on vinyl (Andrea is taking a break for the summer), on The Big Romance’s wonderfully plush and clear Toby Hatchett soundsystem along with a chat about the record’s context, craft, production, lyrics and importance of this modern classic.
Listen Closely is a chance to appreciate a modern classic album on the Big Romance’s warm Toby Hatchett soundsystem with a chat about the record on the night, whether you know it and love it, or if it’s brand new to you. We play the album and provide some background context and chat about it too.
Tickets are limited to 45 for this intimate event.
Doors: 7:00pm. Arrive early for seats.
Album playback and chat from 8pm
