Weekend Jukebox: the remix edition
An assortment of remix fancies for your ears on this Friday from Dublin. Go team. We don’t need no excuse. I’m off to a wedding in Bordeaux today so have at it until Monday.
I talked up Ellie Goulding recently here on the blog and the buzz is starting to build at this moment.
This Jakwob remix takes Starsmith’s production and “dubifies” it, if you will. You’ll know what I mean one minute in.
Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed (Jakwob remix)
This Don Diablo rework has a similarly sparse synthy beginning to Classixx’s Liztomania remix but twists Frankmusik’s original towards euphoria instead.
Frankmusik (Don Diablo likes to slowdance remix)
Ape School is Michael Johnson who you might have heard doing vocals on Daedelus’ last album. He is signed to Sub Pop and Kilontek remixed this single which was out last week.
Ape School – Wait To God (Kilontek remix)
A cut from last year’s Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles by Steve Aoki. it’s got that bloghouse style as sported by Bloody Beetroot’s Warp in which Aoki also features.
Larry Tee & Princess Superstar -Licky (Herve goes Low remix with Santigold)
Boxcutter remixes Belfast’s only 19 year old 80s boogie funk artist Space Dimension Controller.
Space Dimension Controller – VCOcation (Boxcutter remix)
I know what you’re thinking – “Do I really another two Sleepyhead remixes Niall??” and you’re perfectly entitled to skip over these. Except for the fact that you’ll be missing some amazing tunes, because these are really more interpretations and refittings than mere remixes. The first one is by The Mummers and the second is by Manchester’s Run Toto Run
The Mummers Vs Passion Pit – Sleepyhead
Run Toto Run – Sleepyhead (Run Toto Run version)
Bonus:
Duchess Says – Black Flag (Juan Maclean Remix)
