Matthew E. White is coming for a show and a chat with Banter on Monday 4th May in Twisted Pepper. The talk begins at 6pm with Jim Carroll in conversation with White and a solo performance. Tickets €5 + fee from the Banter website.
Culture Vultures returns to Odessa Club on Wednesday 27th May with the solid lineup of Donal Dineen (interview), Somerville (music) and Colm O’ Regan (comedy). Tickets are €10+fees.

Bray Jazz Festival is back for its 16 year over the May Bank Holiday weekend and on the lineup are young American trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire’s Quartet, Brazilian soul and jazz legend Ed Motta, and the 17-piece Dublin City Jazz Orchestra, who will be joined by a number of visiting guests for a musical tribute to the late Kenny Wheeler.
Doolin Folk Festival is happening in Clare from June 12-14 and features music from Mick Flannery, Declan O’Rourke, Sharon Shannon, Stockton’s Wing, O Sahara, Moxie, Colm Mac Ion Iomaire and more.
Cork
The 9th annual Ireland’s primary improvisation and sound art event Sonic Vigil takes place in St. Anne’s Church in Shandon, Cork City on May 2nd from 2pm to 8pm. The event features German composer Christina Kubisch along with Arif Ayab, David Bremner, Mikael Fernstrom, John Godfrey, Paul Hegarty, Anthony Kelly, Danny McCarthy, miXile, Harry Moore, Irene Murphy, Katie O’Looney, Mick O’Shea, Robin Parmar, Karen Power, Caroline Pugh, Nick Roth, David Stalling, Sean Taylor.

Southern Hospitality Board present Dublin alt-rock band Tandem Felix and Galway folk singer Brigid Power Ryce at Mother Jones Flea Market on Saturday 9th May. Tickets are €10.
